Do Not Share Your Nude Pictures with Anyone, NCCE Warns Adolescents

The Kwahu East office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has undertaken a public education activity on Child Protection and related issues with a specific focus on Online Safety and Cyber Bullying with the students and teachers of the Nkwatia Senior High School on the 17th of May 2023 at the Nkwatia Senior High School Assembly Hall.

The purpose of this activity was to identify the risks and opportunities associated with the use of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) tools and the Internet and to ensure that adolescent boys and girls are safe when they use the Internet and social media.

This programme was organised in line with the mandate of the Commission in Article 233 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana to formulate from time to time, policies that educate citizens on their values, rights, and responsibilities. This also dovetails the work of the Department according to the enactment of the Executive Instrument (E.I, 2013) to promote social, economic, and emotional stability in families. It is on this premise, that the Abetifi office of the NCCE together with the Social Welfare and Community Department undertook this sensitisation activity.

Mrs Roberta Esilfuah Koah, Kwahu East District Office (NCCE) advised the students to use social media for educative purposes, to help them become responsible people in society. Mr Kwabena Osei, the Deputy Director of Kwahu East District (Social Welfare and Community Department) discouraged the students from browsing pornographic content like nude pictures. He also discouraged them from sharing their personal information with people online, especially strangers.
