CITIZENSHIP WEEK EDUCATION ON UPHOLDING GHANAIAN VALUES

The Okaikwei North Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), has interacted with pupils of M & Bee Primary and Junior High School (JHS), Lapaz as part of activities to mark this year’s Citizenship week celebration.

A Principal Civic Education Officer, Rexford Mensah-Bonsu said Citizenship Week Celebration is one of the flagship programs of the Commission instituted in 2012 to educate basic school pupils about their responsibilities as active citizens and their roles to build a strong, vibrant and democratic Ghana.

The theme for the celebration is, “Sustaining our democracy, Ghanaian values in practice”. Civic Educators entreated the pupils to be disciplined and uphold the Ghanaian values to enable them to contribute meaningfully to nation-building. Pupils were also educated on what they can do to sustain Ghana’s democracy after 3 decades of uninterrupted constitutional rule. The NCCE team again encouraged the pupils of M & Bee to respect the national symbols, clean their environment and be honest and fair in their dealings with their colleagues and fellow citizens.
