Bodi District Climaxes 2026 Citizenship Week with Pupils’ Civic Engagement

Pupils from Bodi Anglican Junior High School and Bodi R/C Junior High School gathered at the Anglican Church, Bodi on for a civic engagement program that brought this year’s Citizenship Week Celebration in the district to a close under the theme “Upholding our Constitution in a Digital Age: Our Collective Responsibility”. The event brought students, teachers, and education stakeholders together for a day focused on child safety, rights, and responsible citizenship.

The engagement was led by two key speakers, the District Education Director, Madam Vida Ansah, and the District Director of the National Commission for Civic Education, Mr. Emmanuel Awotwe. The pupils were sensitized to child sexual abuse, Violence, Exploitation, and Sexual Harassment, with discussions centered on how to identify risks, speak up, and seek help from trusted adults. A major part of the session also addressed online safety. The students were engaged on how pedophiles use the internet to prey on their victims, and they received practical guidance on protecting their personal information, recognizing suspicious behavior online, and reporting concerns.

The program was designed to equip Junior High pupils with the knowledge they need to protect themselves and contribute positively to their communities as young citizens. Teachers and school authorities who attended the program commended the interactive and age-appropriate nature of the session and expressed hope that similar engagements would be extended to other schools in the district.
