Municipal Director of the Commission's office in the Asokore Mampong Municipality, Matthew Agbenu, has interacted with first-year students of Nurul Ameen Senior High School as part of efforts to promote civic consciousness and constitutional awareness among the youth.
The session, held at the school's assembly grounds, was aimed at deepening understanding of citizens' responsibilities under the 1992 Fourth Republican Constitution of Ghana.
Addressing the students, Mr Agbenu highlighted the provisions of Article 41 of the 1992 Constitution, which outlines the duties and obligations of every Ghanaian citizen. He emphasised the importance of patriotism, respect for the law, protection of public property, and active participation in national development.
The Municipal Director urged the students to remain disciplined, responsible and law-abiding both in school and within their communities. He also noted that cultivating positive attitudes and respect for authority from an early age is essential for building a peaceful and progressive society.
Mr Agbenu further encouraged the students to uphold good moral values and serve as ambassadors of responsible citizenship among their peers.
The interactive session provided students with the opportunity to ask questions on the duties of citizens, constitutional governance, and the role of the NCCE in Ghana's democratic development. The Director offered detailed explanations to the various concerns raised, helping participants gain a deeper appreciation of their civic responsibilities.
In closing remarks, the Headmaster of Nurul Ameen Senior High School expressed appreciation to the NCCE for the insightful presentation and commended the Commission for its commitment to nurturing responsible and informed citizens. He also welcomed future engagements between the NCCE and the school to further strengthen civic education among the young ones.
