Akrofuom NCCE Directorate launches Inter Party District Committee

The Akrofuom District Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has launched the Inter-Party District Committee (IPDC).

The committee's primary objective is to ensure unity and peace among all stakeholders in the constituency before, during, and after the upcoming December 7 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

At a brief ceremony to inaugurate the committee, District Director of the NCCE, Mr. Ali Kassim, emphasized the importance of active participation from all stakeholders as the nation prepares for the polls. He highlighted that, since 1992, Ghana has held eight elections, each with unique characteristics, and the 2024 election is no different. Mr. Kassim stressed the need for all stakeholders to address the emerging challenges as the elections approach.

The discussion among committee members included concerns about the increasing monetization in the country's democracy. They called on constitutional institutions to enforce the law when such matters arise.

Members also expressed worries about the spread of misinformation and disinformation, a growing issue in elections across Ghana, and noted its potential impact on the constituency.

Chief Inspector Richard Boateng, the committee chairman, urged members to prioritize peace in the country, noting that its absence could lead to significant discomfort. He also encouraged all members to contribute effectively to achieving the committee's goals within the constituency.

The committee includes representatives from the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), religious groups, the Information Services Department, political parties, artisans, the District Assembly, security services, and other key stakeholders.
