The people of Domeabra community in the Asante Akyem North District, are elated about the refurbishment of a dilapidated Community Centre building into a Health Centre.
Until the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) led the Social Auditing programme which engaged the townsfolks on 26th March 2019, the condition of the Community Centre was not the best.
A little over a year after the Social Auditing programme with support from the European Union (EU), the community got the result they yearned for, as the local Chapter of the Prempeh College Old Students fully funded the renovation of the Community into a Health Centre at a cost of GH 11,000 Cedis.
The residents could not hide their joy during the handing over ceremony at the community on 8th September 2020.
In a remark, Baafuor Bediako Owusu, Omanhene of Domeabra, who chaired the handing over ceremony commended the Prempeh College Old Students of Domeabra community for a good job done which would go a long way to complement Government’s efforts in health delivery in the country.
The Omanhene who donated a refrigerator to the Health Centre, also urged the Old Students of the various schools in the town to emulate a good example of Prempeh Old Students to give back to society.
Mr. Frank Benny, Asante Akyem Chapter President of Prempeh College Old Students, who thanked members of the group for their commitment, also donated a blood pressure monitor to the Health Centre.
Similarly, Dr S. K. Frimpong and Wofa Marfo Ntiamoah, donated a TV Set and Gun Thermometer to the facility, respectively.
Among dignitaries present at the ceremony were Mr. Ebenezer Akwasi Amoako, Organiser of Prempeh College Old Students at Domeabra, Mr. Seth Obeng-Asiedu, NCCE Asante Akyem North District Director, and Mr. Ronald Mbiah, District Director for Health Services.
