WESLEY GRAMMAR SENIOR HIGH STUDENTS SCHOOLED ON GHANA CARD EXCERCISE

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) Ablekumah North Municipal Director, Mr. Richmond Okoaben-Mensah met with students of Wesley Grammar Senior High School to educate them on the Ghana Card. He said it is the civic responsibility of every Ghanaian to get registered to acquire the Ghana National Card. The Ghana Card is a national identity card that is issued by the National Identification Authority. It would serve as proof of identity, citizenship, and residence of the holder.

The Municipal Director educated the students on the categories of people who are qualified to be registered as all Ghanaian citizens abroad and foreign nationals legally or permanently resident in Ghana.

Mr. Okoaben-Mensah stressed that the registration is free. The students were also required to produce their birth certificate, a valid passport or a certificate of acquired citizenship and digital address code. He stated that people who do not have either of the required documents can register by having two relatives who have previously registered and received their Ghana Card to vouch for them

He urged all the students to participate in the exercise which will commence from the 4th of March, 2019 in the Accra West Zone of the Greater Accra Region from 8 am-5 pm Monday to Saturday for a period of three weeks. He reiterated that the card will soon be a one-stop-shop for all transactions in the country. The card would serve many purposes including security, traveling, ease of identification, and socio-economic inclusion among others.
