Wassa Amenfi Central NCCE holds Inter-Party Dialogue Committee Meeting

The Wassa Amenfi Central District office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in the Western Region has organized an Inter-party Dialogue Committee (IPDC) meeting at the district Capital, Manso Amenfi.

This meeting was organized to bring together Political Parties, the youth, security agencies, District assembly Chiefs, Traditional Authorities, Civil Society, and Community leaders to reinforce the role of political parties as key stakeholders in efforts to prevent the likely spill over of extremist activities into Ghana.

The Regional Director of NCCE, Mr J. Y. Ennin, who chaired the meeting spoke on emerging extremist activities in the Country and how it is important for all stakeholders to put in place measures to prevent and safeguard the peace we enjoy as Ghanaians.

Mr, Ennin entreated all participants to be security courteous. He also asked political party representatives to ensure that their activities and programmes are organized devoid of any violence and the destruction of properties.

ASP Franklin Selby, the District Police Commander beseeched all political party representatives at the meeting to take note of the Public Order Act in planning any activity in the future.

He further explained that, it’s unlawful to organize street possessions and demonstrations without a prior notice to the Police.

Political parties present pledged for peace and promised to work together to avert any form of violent extremism in the district.

A short film on civil war in some African countries was screened and discussed by the participants.

The meeting was organized by the NCCE with support from the European Union.
