NCCE Yendi Inducts New Civic Education Club Executives at St. Vincent College

The Yendi Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has organized a handover and inauguration ceremony for the outgoing and newly elected executives of the NCCE Civic Education Club at St. Vincent College of Education.

The ceremony, at the College, provided an opportunity to recognize the contributions of the outgoing executives and formally usher in a new leadership to continue promoting civic awareness, constitutional values and responsible citizenship among students.

Addressing the students, the NCCE Yendi Municipal Director, Mr. Osman Kassim, urged members of the Civic Education Club to see their membership as an opportunity to develop leadership skills and become responsible citizens capable of contributing meaningfully to national development.

He encouraged the newly elected executives to lead by example and uphold the principles of integrity, accountability, tolerance, and respect for the rule of law. He also urged them to use their positions to promote peace and responsible citizenship within the College and beyond.

Mr. Kassim subsequently administered the oath of office to the newly elected executives, charging them to faithfully discharge their responsibilities and uphold the values and objectives of the NCCE Civic Education Club.

The outgoing President of the Club, Mr. Bright Oduro, called on the Government to invest more resources in the NCCE and support its civic education activities.

He stressed that adequate investment in civic education was crucial to nurturing strong, responsible and patriotic future leaders.

Mr. Oduro, reflecting on his experience as a member of the Civic Education Club, acknowledged the significant knowledge and skills he and his colleagues had acquired through their participation in the Club's activities.

He noted that the Club had helped members improve their leadership, communication, critical-thinking, and civic engagement skills, describing the experience as valuable preparation for their future roles in society.

The Patron of the NCCE Civic Education Club, Miss Esther Asebiga, also admonished the students to uphold the values of good citizenship and demonstrate responsible behavior wherever they found themselves.

She urged them to respect the Constitution, promote peace and tolerance, and actively participate in activities that contribute to the development of their communities and the country.

Miss Asebiga further called on the Government to adequately resource the NCCE to enable the Commission to effectively undertake its constitutional mandate of educating citizens on their civic responsibilities and rights.

The ceremony ended with the swearing-in of the newly elected executives, who pledged to serve with commitment, integrity and dedication.

The newly sworn-in executives are:

2. Vice President: Issah Rahinatu

3. Secretary: Nimeotira Imurana Yuyongo

4. Assistant Secretary: Agangre Evans Ayindenaba

5. Financial Secretary: Boange Yabambe Evans

6. Treasurer: Salomey Adombire

7. Organizer: Aluwen Awenlinye Daniel

8. Deputy Organizer: Hawufia Tornyi George

The NCCE Civic Education Club remains an important platform for nurturing civic consciousness, leadership skills, and responsible citizenship among students, while providing them with practical opportunities to understand and promote Ghana's democratic values and constitutional principles.
