TRADITIONAL LEADERS TO ENCOURAGE THEIR COMMUNITIES TO VOTE IN THEIR NUMBERS IN THE DLEs

As part of the NCCE Asutifi North District Office’s efforts to educate the masses on the 2023 District Level Elections (DLE), the Office met with two Traditional Councils in the District. These were Ntotroso Traditional Council and Wamahinso Divisional Council.

The District Director, Rev. Robert Collins Annam, explained to the Omanhene Barima Twereku Ampem II (Ntotroso Omanhene), Nana Adjei Twum II (Wamahiso Divisional Chief), and their council members the need for Nananom to encourage their communities’ members to vote in the up-coming DLE on Tuesday 19th December 2023 between the hours of 7 am to 5 pm.

He said the turnouts of the past District Level Elections were very low.

He observed that citizens seem to rather downgrade the essence of this all-important exercise.

He further explained that the trend has a serious negative impact on the quality and efficiency of our Local Governance System.

The Director indicated that Nananom being the custodians of the Land has great influence on their people. He therefore appealed to Nananom to intervene by helping the NCCE to whip up the people’s interest in this particular district level elections.

The Office donated a copy of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana to the Ntotroso Omanhene and the Wamahinso Divisional Chief.

Barima Twereku Ampem II advised the NCCE staff to continue the commitment to reach out to the people with civic messages. He said humans are like food that needs constant heating. He advised the Government and all Stakeholders to support the NCCE to work for the betterment of the state. The Wamahinso divisional Chief Nana Adjei Twum II lauded NCCE for its education.
