Tano North Marks National Day of Thanksgiving and Prayer with Call for Peace and Responsible Citizenship

In times of uncertainty, a united nation finds strength in prayer, peace and collective responsibility. Against this backdrop, the Tano North Municipality joined citizens across the country to mark the National Day of Thanksgiving and Prayer with solemn services held at the Pentecost Church and the Mosque in Duayaw Nkwanta.

The observance brought together the Ahafo Regional Minister, the Tano North Municipal Chief Executive, religious leaders, civil society organizations and citizens to offer prayers for peace, unity, timely action and national development.

As part of efforts to mobilize citizens and promote civic participation, the Tano North Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) supported the observance through street announcements and by mobilizing members of civic education clubs and other identifiable groups within the municipality.

Speaking during the programme, the Municipal Director of the NCCE, Mr. Joseph Oduro-Buabeng, urged citizens to desist from creating and sharing fake news, particularly information that could create fear, division and tension in society. He encouraged the public to verify information before sharing it and to use communication as a tool to promote peace and national unity.

The programme therefore provided an opportunity for citizens and stakeholders to reflect on the importance of peace, unity and responsible citizenship in promoting national development.
