The Mamprusi East Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) with support from EU has held a forum on Violent Extremism in Bongbini, a community in the Municipality.
Speaking at the forum, a Civic Education Officer (CEO) of the Mamprusi East Municipal Office of the Commission in Gambaga, Mr. Zakari Alhassan, appealed to Faith Based Organisations to help fight against any form of violent extremism and urged citizens in the municipality to be vigilant and report strangers in their communities to the appropriate authorities, especially the security agencies.
Mr. Zakari Alhassan cited the perceived tensions created in neighbouring countries as a result of the activities of violent extremist groups and appealed to citizens to safeguard the peace and security of Ghana. Mr. Alhassan urged religious leaders to use their platforms to create the needed awareness on peace and national cohesion. He encouraged participants to report any suspicious characters to the Ghana Police Service and other security agencies.
