THE MEDIA HAS TO FURTHER ENHANCE THE MANDATE OF NCCE

Ms. Josephine Nkrumah, the Chairman of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has urged all media institutions to support the NCCE to fulfill its mandate. During a visit to the newsroom of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) as part of the Commission’s 2021 Constitution Week celebration, Ms. Nkrumah stated that both the media and the NCCE have been enjoined by Articles 162 and 233 respectively of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana to create awareness and uphold the principles and objectives of the Constitution thereby promoting and sustaining democracy and inculcating in the Ghanaian citizenry, the awareness of their rights and obligations.

She further charged the media to see the 1992 Constitution of Ghana as an everyday reference that must influence news reportage. The media and NCCE must work hand in hand to positively impact society and the nation as a whole, Ms. Nkrumah added. Ms. Nkrumah later presented twenty (20) copies of the 1992 Constitution to the GBC Newsroom.
