The Yendi Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has intensified its civic education campaign with a sensitisation program for pupils of the Centre for Islamic Junior High School as part of its First Quarter activities for 2026.
The engagement, led by the Municipal Director, Mr. Kassim Osman, focused on educating pupils about the functions of District Assemblies and the dangers of cyberbullying and internet fraud.
He encouraged the pupils to understand the role of Assembly Members and to actively participate in community development activities.
On digital safety, Mr. Osman cautioned students against cyberbullying and internet fraud, popularly known as “Sakwa.” He referenced the Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038) and the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), stressing that such offences carry serious legal consequences.
The session was interactive, with pupils asking questions on online safety and reporting abusive behaviour. The Director urged them to use the internet responsibly and uphold the values of good citizenship.
