The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) with support from the Ghana Book Development Council organized a 48- hour-marathon book reading session as part of the Accra World Book Capital, 2023 activities in twelve (12) selected districts in the Greater Accra region. The theme for the programme is “Reading to Connect Minds for Social Transformation” and the slogan, “Akwaaba, Let’s Read”.


The districts involved were Ga North, Ga South, Ga West, Korle Klottey, Weija Gbawe, Ayawaso North, Ayawaso East, Ayawaso Central, Ayawaso West, Accra Metro, Ga Central, and Ashiedu Keteke.


The objective of the 2023 reading campaign was to promote reading at all levels to engender literacy and in effect cause positive social transformation, especially among the youth in the city of Accra, and Ghana at large.
