The Amenfi East Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), in collaboration with Touton-Eliho Cocoa Buying Company, has engaged residents of Wassa Wantram on child abuse, child labor, drug abuse, illegal mining, and the safe use of agrochemicals.
Personnel from the Department of Social Welfare educated participants on the causes and effects of child labor and child abuse, as well as the need for communities to protect children from practices that threaten their well-being and development.
Mr. Joel Mensah of the NCCE also sensitized participants on drug abuse and the dangers associated with illegal mining, highlighting their negative effects on individuals, families, communities, and the environment.
Personnel from Touton-Eliho Cocoa Buying Company, meanwhile, educated participants on the proper handling and use of agrochemicals to promote safety and protect human health and the environment.
Participants were given the opportunity to ask questions, share their experiences, and make contributions towards addressing the issues discussed. Their active participation contributed to the success of the engagement.
