The NCCE, in a bid towards ensuring that the contemporary child walks out of school with renewed civic consciousness, is employing a variety of tactics of engagement with them, which includes organizing quiz competitions in all districts across the country.
The Commission has objectivized to deliberately target these young ones because, beyond the notorious fact that they are the future leaders, it is imperative to raise children who would be guided by the tenets of democracy, with a zeal to defend the 1992 Fourth (4th) Republican Constitution at all times.
In view of this, the Kwaebibirem Municipal Office of the Commission has taken its turn in the series of quizzes being organized among basic schools nationwide. Participating schools within the jurisdiction included Nana Apeaweah JHS, Roman Catholic JHS, and E.P Basic JHS.
Knowledge of participants was tested in areas such as governance, current affairs, constitutional provisions, and general knowledge. At the end of the competition, which was held in the heart of the Kade township, Roman Catholic JHS emerged as the winner, closely followed by E.P. Basic JHS.
The Director of NCCE’s Office in the Municipality, Mrs. Gertrude Adwoa Defoe, while addressing the gathering, cautioned the students to desist from social vices that have the propensity to inhibit their successful completion of the basic school, adding that “obeying the elderly is very key if you want to grow to become responsible adults.”
Each participant, at the end of the day, was given assorted items as an award in recognition of their individual outstanding performances.
