The Nandom Senior High School Civic Education Club, under the auspices of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), on Saturday, June 13, 2026, held its official handing-over ceremony at the school’s assembly hall, marking a transition in leadership and reaffirming the club’s commitment to civic responsibility and leadership development.
The event brought together teachers, students, and officials from the NCCE Nandom Municipal Office to witness the transfer of leadership from the outgoing executives to a new team.
In his welcome remarks, the Patron of the Club, Mr. Emmanuel Benon, expressed gratitude to officials from the NCCE Municipal Office for attending the ceremony. He commended the outgoing executives for their dedication and effective leadership over the past year and pledged his continuous support to help the club achieve greater success under the new administration.
The outgoing President, Ibrahim Fuseini Kabori, officially handed over the leadership of the club to the incoming President, Naamwintor Cyril. Reflecting on his tenure, Ibrahim noted that the club had undertaken several educational tours to key government institutions, including the NCCE Regional Office, Electoral Commission Regional Office, University for Business and Integrated Development Studies (UBIDS), and the Military Barracks in the Upper West Region. He added that members also embarked on educational excursions to Accra, where they visited Parliament House, the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), and the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park.
Accepting the mantle of leadership, Naamwintor Cyril pledged to intensify the club’s activities through the organization of debates, civic challenges, excursions, and other educational programmes aimed at promoting active citizenship among students.
Addressing the gathering, the NCCE Municipal Officer in Charge for Nandom, Mr. Issahaque T. Angme, emphasized the important role Civic Education Clubs play in nurturing responsible citizens and future leaders. He stated that the club serves as a platform for promoting patriotism, discipline, integrity, tolerance, and active participation in national development.
Mr. Angme praised the outgoing executives for their commitment and contributions to the growth of the club, noting that their efforts had inspired many students to become more aware of their civic duties. He also encouraged the incoming executives to lead with humility, honesty, teamwork, and accountability, reminding them that leadership is about service rather than position or power.
He further urged all club members to actively participate in club activities and support the new leadership to make the Civic Education Club stronger and more impactful.
The ceremony ended with a renewed commitment by members and executives to uphold the values of civic responsibility and contribute positively to their school and community.
