NCCE, IPDC take peace message to faith-based organisations at Amenfi West

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), in collaboration with the Inter-Party Dialogue Committee (IPDC) at Amen West District of the Western Region, has met faith-based organisations on ensuring peace before, during, and after the December 7 polls.

The meeting, held on the theme: “Together we can build so get involved,” was centred on how to ensure peaceful campaigns, political and religious tolerance, avoiding money in politics, fighting dis/misinformation and tribalism, among other topics.

Mr. Anthony Kelvin Amoo, the Wassa Amen Central District Director of NCCE, who supervised the meeting at separate engagements, said peace and stability was paramount to the progress of the country, hence, everybody should get involved in ensuring a peaceful 2024 elections.

According to him, faith-based groups were key stakeholders in upholding the principles of peace and harmony, hence the need to meet them to ensure a violence-free 2024 elections.

Mr. Frank Agyapong, Chief Field Ocer, Amen West NCCE Oce, reiterated the need for faith-based organisations to peacefully co-exist with each other and urged them to lead the campaign for peace in their communities ahead of the elections.

He said, "No country develops without peace and stability, so let us all put in our efforts to ensure that nobody engages in violence before, during and after the upcoming general elections.”

The Amen West NCCE as part of efforts to intensify the peace campaign, held a peace walk in collaboration with some security service personnel within the district to drum home the peace message among the people.
