NCCE Ga West Engages Church Members on Responsible Digital Citizenship

As part of its efforts to promote responsible digital behaviour, the Ga West Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) engaged members of the Unity Center Assemblies of God Church in Amasaman in a public education programme on digital citizenship.

The outreach focused on equipping participants with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the digital space safely and responsibly. The session addressed key issues including child online abuse, misinformation, disinformation, and cyberbullying, all of which continue to pose significant challenges in today's digital age.

Facilitating the programme, Mr. Castro Kofi Appiah, Civic Education Officer, urged the congregation to verify information before sharing it on social media or other digital platforms. He also encouraged parents and guardians to take active steps to protect children from online exploitation and to promote responsible and respectful use of the internet.

The interactive engagement further emphasized that ensuring a safe digital environment is a collective responsibility. Parents, guardians, religious leaders, and all citizens were encouraged to work together to promote positive online behaviour and help combat the spread of harmful content.

The programme forms part of the NCCE's ongoing public education efforts to strengthen civic responsibility, enhance digital literacy, and encourage safe internet practices within communities.
