The Kpone Katamanso Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has engaged National Service Personnel at Michel Camp to enhance their understanding of civic responsibilities.
The engagement, led by the Municipal Director, Seth Sotie, focused on PNDC Law 111, also known as the Intestate Succession Law. He explained that the law regulates how the estates of persons who die without a will are shared, noting that a lack of awareness often leads to disputes within families.
Mr. Sotie further explained the sharing formula under the law, illustrating how properties are distributed among spouses, children, parents, and extended family members. He provided practical examples to make the session more relatable and easier to grasp.
The participants actively engaged in the discussion by asking questions and sharing experiences, making the programme interactive and impactful.
The NCCE says the initiative forms part of its mandate to educate citizens on their rights and responsibilities, while promoting legal awareness and social harmony.
