The Sunyani West Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), as part of the 2026 Citizenship Week Celebration, engaged pupils of First Star Preparatory and JHS.
The engagement was held under the sub-theme, “Growing Up Digital: The Ghanaian Child Upholding the Constitution Online,” and aimed at promoting responsible online behavior among children and young people.
Mr. Mawulolo Anane, an Emerging Public Leaders Ghana Fellow serving with the Commission, interacted with pupils from the upper primary and junior high school sections. He highlighted the important role children play in nation-building and stressed the need for young people to use digital platforms responsibly and in accordance with the values of the Constitution.
During the session, pupils were educated on responsible online conduct, the dangers of misinformation, and the risks associated with the misuse of social media platforms. Mr. Anane encouraged them to become positive digital citizens who contribute to creating a safer and more respectful online environment.
The pupils actively participated in the discussions, asking questions and sharing their experiences regarding the use of digital technologies. Their enthusiasm and engagement reflected a strong interest in the topic and a willingness to adopt responsible online practices.
The program was highly interactive and impactful, with the pupils expressing appreciation for the knowledge shared. They also indicated their commitment to applying the lessons learned to ensure safe and responsible use of digital platforms.
