The Pru West Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has engaged students at Prang Senior High School (Prang SHS) in an educational program aimed at promoting constitutional awareness and responsible citizenship among the youth.
The engagement at the school's assembly grounds formed part of the activities marking the 2026 Constitution Week Celebration. The program brought together students, teachers, and officials of the NCCE to discuss the relevance of the 1992 Constitution and the role of citizens in safeguarding Ghana's democracy.
Addressing the gathering, the Pru West District Director of the NCCE, Mr. Dzakpasu Frank, underscored the importance of the Constitution as the supreme law of the land. He urged students to uphold democratic values, respect the rule of law, and contribute meaningfully to national development.
Speaking on the Constitution Week theme, “Upholding Our Constitution in the Digital Age: Our Collective Responsibility,” Mr. Frank encouraged students to exhibit responsible behavior both online and offline. He stressed that their actions in the digital space should reflect the values and principles enshrined in the Constitution.
Also addressing the students, Mr. Mujeeb Musah, Civic Education Officer, reminded them of their constitutional duty under Article 41 to uphold and defend the Constitution. He explained that defending the Constitution involves obeying the laws of Ghana, respecting the rights of others, rejecting violence and hate speech, reporting criminal activities, and exercising caution when sharing content online.
The students actively participated in the interactive session, raising questions on online safety, cyberbullying, and the responsible use of digital platforms. Facilitators provided practical guidance on how young people can protect themselves online while contributing to good governance and national development.
Teachers who attended the program commended the NCCE for the timely and informative engagement and encouraged the Commission to sustain such educational initiatives in schools.
At the end of the program, the students expressed appreciation to the NCCE for the enlightening presentation and pledged to apply the knowledge gained in their academic and personal lives.
The Pru West Directorate of the NCCE reaffirmed its commitment to promoting constitutional awareness and civic responsibility through continuous public education program across the district.
