NCCE calls on the Offuman Traditional Council to encourage women to take interest in politics.

The Techiman North District Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Mr. Mohammed Manu Busi, has called on the Offuman Traditional Council to encourage women in its traditional area to take interest in Assembly and unit committee elections to shape the community’s political ideologies, contribute to nation building and ensure active citizens’ inclusiveness in the governance process at all level.

Mr. Mohammed Manu Busi made this call when the district office of the NCCE paid a courtesy call on the Traditional Council. Mr. Busi also appealed to them to pay more attention to the marginalized groups in the society, particularly women and the disabled, in carrying out their mandate.

He, therefore, urged all to uphold and defend the 1992 constitution of the Republic against all forms of abuse and violation and stressing that if it had done nothing at all for us as citizens, it had kept us together as one nation without any military intervention. He added that the constitution might not be the best but the longest lasting one ever in the country.

The paramount Chief of Offuman Traditional Area, Nana Akosua Amobea II expressed appreciation to the Commission for its continuous sensitization and education on the tenets of the constitution. He encouraged the NCCE to frequently engage them to increase their awareness on constitutional and other relevant matters.
