In a collaborative effort to address environmental concerns, the Asunafo North Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) recently engaged the Parents Association (PA) of Ahafoman M/A Basic School. The focal point of discussion was "Good Sanitation Practices and Environmental Governance, Key to Our Survival as Humans."
During the session, Mr. Harris Quansah, the resource person, highlighted the detrimental impact of galamsey activities on water production costs by the Ghana Water Company. He underscored the importance of community involvement in tackling this issue, urging residents of the Ahafo Region to play an active role in discouraging those who contribute to environmental degradation.
Mr. Quansah referred to Article 41 (g and k) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, emphasizing the constitutional duty of every citizen to safeguard the environment as responsible members of society. Encouraging a sense of environmental responsibility, he called on residents to caution individuals who, whether knowingly or unknowingly, engage in activities that harm or pollute the surroundings.
This initiative aims to foster a collective commitment to environmental conservation, emphasizing that good sanitation practices and environmental governance are imperative for the survival and well-being of humanity.
