As part of the Easter Festivity, the Akatsi South Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in collaboration with the Future Builders Foundation, Akatsi South District Hospital, Sacred Heart Catholic Hospital, Kaleawo 107.3Fm, and Shine 96.9Fm embarked on a maiden Easter Monday Picnic event termed, “Donate Blood to Save Life Campaign”. The event was aimed at entreating people to donate pints of blood to blood banks. The blood donation exercise took place at premises of the NCCE office in Akatsi South.
The District Director, Rev. Vincent Adzika said ‘Donate Blood to Save Life Campaign’ is a way of bringing the youths and other benevolent individuals to show love to their fellow citizens and to freely work within the theme “Donate Blood, Save an Accident Victim”. Rev. Vincent Adzika added that the blood donation exercise is part of our duties as citizens of Ghana as stated in Article 41(g) of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana which states that it shall be the duty of every citizen “to contribute to the well-being of the community where that citizen lives”
The Founder and President of the Future Builders Foundation (FBF), a Civil Society Organisation (CSO), Mr. Wonder Gatepe, encouraged the voluntary donors to make themselves available whenever there is an opportunity to donate blood to save lives.
Mr. Simon Dartey, who is the Biomedical Scientist from the Sacred Heart Catholic Hospital, Abor, and the leader of the medical team was grateful to the NCCE for initiating a campaign to save lives. He described the maiden “Donate Blood to Save Life Campaign” as a success.
