A Senior Civic Education Officer (SCEO) at the Ashiedu Keteke Sub-Metro Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Mr. Rexford Mensah Bonsu and his colleague Mr. Percy De-Graft Turkson have educated Kimbu Senior High School students on the need to participate in the Ghana Card exercise.
Mr. Bonsu spoke to the students on the benefits a citizen would enjoy when he or she registers. On the larger scale, the Ghana Card would promote business efficiency, enhance revenue mobilization, promote targeting of development resources, ease traveling within ECOWAS sub-region among others. He said that every Ghanaian must participate in the exercise so they can enjoy these benefits.
He informed the students that the card is going to replace all other ID cards in the system and therefore it is important to own one. He added that every Ghanaian from age 0 and above including foreign nationals legally and permanent residents would be entitled to the card. The students were advised to go to the registration centers he enumerated with their birth certificates, residential address, a digital address, and all other ID cards.
Similar programmes have been held at Furqan mosque at Cowlane, Electrical Dealer’s Association information Center at Opera square, Richard Akwei Memorial JHS at Agbogbloshie, Makola Mall, and Tema Station Information Centers. They also visited the Agbaadzena Group at the John Freeman Methodist School, Palladium to interact with them.
