The Lambussie District Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Mr. Paul Kwame Ganvu has entreated parents and guardians to take special interest in deliberately nurturing their children to become responsible members of society. Speaking at a meeting with key members of the Lambussie community, Mr. Ganvu encouraged parents to inculcate family and civic values in their wards to contribute meaningfully to the development of the country .
Mr Ganvu addressing the members on child rights issues as part of Civic Education activities in the district, explained that , Act 560 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana among other things mandates parents to provide the needs of their children, ensure dignity of the child, protect the child from physical, psychological and verbal abuse as well as avoid subjecting children to child labour and moral hazards.
He stated that children are gifts from God and cautioned parents and caretakers to abstain from discriminating against them on religious, gender and social grounds.
He added that the need of the child should always be apriority to parents.
