Ga East NCCE organizes peace forum to educates public on 'dos' and 'don'ts' of election as candidates commit to a peaceful process

The National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) of the Ga East Municipal Assembly (GEMA) has held a Peace Forum at the Dome Market on Wednesday, 3rd December, 2024.

The Peace Forum aimed to bring the Parliamentary Candidates of the various Political Parties in the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency together so that voters would have an assurance of peace before, during, and after the general elections.

Three Parliamentary Candidates, NPP's Mike Aaron Oquaye Jnr., PPP's Remy Paa Kow Edmundson, and PNC's Dora Nyarko, and Nii Tackie, a representative of the NDC candidate, took turns to talk about peaceful coexistence amongst their supporters and assured them that the elections would be a peaceful one so everyone should come out on the 7th of December to vote for their preferred candidate to represent them in the 9th Parliament of the Republic of Ghana.

The NCCE Officials, led by the Director, Jemima Mensah, educated the public on the voting processes and encouraged everyone to participate in the upcoming elections as it is their time to let their thumb do the talking.

The Officials intimated that if they do not come out to vote for their preferred candidate, others will go and elect someone who may not be their choice to represent them in the next Parliament, and they may not be happy with the outcome.

The Secretary of the Ga East Council of Churches, Apostle Kweku Menya, advised the people to "live in peace with everyone because an election is not a war but rather expressing views and opinions".

He again advised them to vote peacefully and go back home on the election day.

The Peace Forum followed the "Political Dialogue" also organized by the NCCE at the Haatso Calvary Presby Church on Thursday, 21st November, 2024.
