Every Ghanaian owes it a duty to uphold and defend the Constitution against all forms of abuse and violations – NCCE Afigya Kwabre North District Director.
The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) Afigya Kwabre North District Director Miss Mavis Achiaa Opoku has urged that it is the duty of every Ghanaian to uphold and defend the Constitution against all forms of abuse and violations.
Speaking at Otumfour Osei Tutu II College at Tetrem and St. Michael’s SHS at Ahenkro, she reminded the students of the significance of 28th April 1992 in the annals of Ghana’s fourth republican democratic dispensation where Ghanaians overwhelmingly voted at a referendum to endorse the 1992 Constitution and thereby ushered in the fourth republic.
“The country over the past thirty years has ensured the continuity of the political and economic stability and every Ghanaian owes it a duty to uphold and defend the Constitution against all forms of abuse and violations”, she added.
Also present was Mr. Emmanuel Kwadwo Wiredu the Municipal Director of NCCE who co-resourced the program to encouraged the students to be abreast with the provisions of the Constitution of Ghana to increase their knowledge of the nation’s governance systems and improve their meaningful participation in nation-building.
The NCCE embarked on a sensitization program in Senior High Schools within the District on the 1992 Constitution of Ghana where they explained the need to be patriotic, disciplined, and law-abiding citizens committed to the tenets of democracy and good governance.
This symposium formed part of the Directorate’s activities outlined for enlightening the citizenry on the provisions of the 1992 Constitution to mark the 30th anniversary of the 4th Republican Constitutional Democratic governance in the district.
