ESCHEW VIOLENCE AND REPORT SUSPECTED CHARACTERS TO APPROPRIATE AUTHORITIES-NCCE

The Sene East District office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has urged the youth to eschew violence and report suspected characters to the appropriate authorities. This advice was given during an engagement that took place at the Kajaji Methodist Chapel in the Sene East District of the Bono –East Region.

The Sene East District Director of the NCCE, Mr. Dzakpasu Frank stated that the engagement sought to sensitise the youth on violent extremism and terrorism threat. He also indicated that the activity forms part of a European Union Funded Preventing and Containing Violent Extremism (PCVE) project. He took them through the elements of national cohesion and Peace-building Mechanisms. He entreated them to be patriotic, tolerant and live peacefully with one another.

The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of the Kajaji Police Station, DSP. Joseph K Diaba called on religious leaders to install an electronic surveillance system at worship centers, screen worshipers and encouraged them to report suspected characters to the appropriate authorities. He also urged the participants to look out for emergency exits in public places and keep security contacts. “Security is a shared responsibility hence it is crucial for all to cooperate with the security agencies to contain the menace”, he mentioned.

A representative from the Sene District Immigration Office, Mr. Sowah Faud Odatei, implored the youth to establish community patrol and neighborhood watch for security surveillance and collaborate with security agencies to counter the proliferation of arms in the country.
