DEMAND ACCOUNTABILITY FROM DUTY BEARERS – NCCE

The NCCE Deputy Chairman Finance and Administration, Ms. Kathy Addy has urged students of the Canadian Independent College to encourage their parents to pay taxes especially those in the informal sector and demand accountability from duty bearers..

Ms. Addy said when she had her turn at this year’s Annual Citizenship Week Celebration on the theme “Our Taxes Build a Great Ghana”.

She made the students understand that great countries were built with taxes and if citizens want Ghana to be a great nation, all income earners must honour their tax obligations. She interacted with the students on the relationship between tax payment and development.

She stressed that with revenue accrued from our taxes, government would be able to create jobs, provide electricity, health facilities, potable water, roads, schools, libraries, security, among others.

The Headmistress of the school thanked the NCCE for its commitments towards sensitizing Ghanaians on their civic rights and responsibilities.
