Weija-Gbawe NCCE Sensitizes Residents on Tax Obligations

The Weija-Gbawe Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has undertaken a sensitization exercise at selected information centers in Tetegu, Weija and SCC to educate residents on tax evasion and the importance of fulfilling their tax obligations.

The exercise sought to raise awareness among citizens about the significance of taxation to national development and the negative consequences of tax evasion.

During the engagement, NCCE officers explained that failure by citizens and businesses to pay their taxes can limit the government’s ability to provide essential public services and undertake development projects.

They noted that tax revenue serves as a major source of funding for the provision of roads, schools, healthcare facilities, sanitation and other social amenities across the country.

The officers therefore encouraged residents to comply with their tax obligations, stressing that paying taxes is not only a legal responsibility but also an important contribution to the development of Ghana.
