The Wenchi Municipal office of the National Commission for Civic Education, NCCE has engaged the Ghana Beauticians and Hairdressers Association in Wenchi on human rights abuse. A Senior Civic Education Officer at the Wenchi Municipal office of the Commission, Rev. Azaare Ayamga explained the types of abuses citing physical abuse, psychological and emotional abuse, domestic violence, sexual abuse, and self-neglect among others.
He quoted Article 12 (2) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana which states “Every person in Ghana, whatever his race, place of origin, political opinion, colour, religion, creed or gender shall be entitled to the fundamental human rights and freedoms of the individual contained in this Chapter but subject to respect for the rights and freedoms of others and for the public interest”.
Mr. Ayamga said the laws of Ghana protect the basic rights of every citizen. He touched on children’s rights and implored parents to pay keen attention to the well-being of their wards.
