NCCE Sunyani West Municipal Holds its Maiden Smart Governance Quiz Competition

The Sunyani West Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) organized a maiden Smart Governance Quiz Competition at the premises of Calvary Assemblies of God, Odomase. Participating Schools were First Star Preparatory JHS, Odomase, Karlvero Preparatory JHS Odomase, and Roman Catholic JHS, Dumasua. Two contestants were presented by each of the competing schools.

The NCCE Municipal Director, Ms. Margaret Abrafi Appiah in her welcome address outlined the importance of the Competition. She emphasized that its objective is to broaden the pupils' understanding of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, the Local Government Act 936, and the Currency Act 1964 (Act 242). She promised that the competition would be organized more often to help achieve the vision of the Commission.

A teacher at Odomaseman Senior High School, Mr. Aaron M.K Baffoe was the Quiz Master for the occasion. He excellently moderated the challenge to the admiration of all.

At the end of the competition, Roman Catholic JHS, Dumasua placed First (1^St) with 76 points, followed by Karlvero Preparatory JHS, Odomase with 68 Points, and First Star Preparatory placing Third (3^rd) position with 63 points.

The Sunyani West Municipal Director of Centre for National Culture, Mr. Francis Kudom encouraged pupils to take their studies more seriously since it is a major tool for their future prospects and careers.

Awards were presented based on positions placed by the schools. A total of eighteen (18) booklets of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana were awarded to the three participating schools, three (3) Certificates of Participation given to each school, and six (6) Certificates of Honor to each of the six contestants.
