NCCE Sunyani West Engages Twumasi Krom Pupils on Responsible Digital Citizenship

The Sunyani West Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has engaged pupils of Twumasi Krom M/A School as part of activities marking the 2026 Citizenship Week Celebration.

The engagement, held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, was under the sub-theme, “Growing Up Digital: The Ghanaian Child Upholding the Constitution Online.” The program aimed to educate young learners on responsible digital behavior and their civic responsibilities in the digital age.

Addressing upper primary and Junior High School pupils, Mr. Mawulolo Anane, an Emerging Public Leaders Ghana Fellow serving with the Commission, highlighted the important role children play in national development. He noted that the growing influence of digital technology continues to shape the lives, attitudes, and behavior of young people, making it necessary for them to use online platforms responsibly.

Mr. Anane educated the pupils on their constitutional rights and responsibilities and stressed the importance of exercising these rights responsibly both online and offline. He cautioned against the sharing of false information on social media and urged them to verify information before forwarding it to others.

He further encouraged the pupils to become responsible digital citizens by demonstrating respect, integrity, and accountability in their online interactions. According to him, young people have a collective responsibility to contribute to creating a safer and more positive digital environment for all.

The program forms part of the NCCE’s annual Citizenship Week initiative, which seeks to instill civic values, patriotism, and responsible citizenship among schoolchildren across the country.
