NCCE Partners Peace Council to Promote Peaceful Electoral Participation

The Greater Accra Regional Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), in collaboration with the Greater Accra Regional Peace Council, organised a training session for community and youth leaders to promote peace and prevent election-related violence. The engagement brought together key stakeholders, including the Regional Director of NCCE, Mr. Mawuli Agbenu; the Principal Programmes Manager of the Peace Council, Mr. Henry Attoh Okai; the Executive Director of the Foundation for Security and Development in Africa (FOSDA), Ms. Theodora Williams Anti; and the Chairman of the Greater Accra Regional Peace Council, Rev. Samuel Kofi Osabutey. The initiative formed part of NCCE’s ongoing efforts to deepen civic awareness and strengthen democratic resilience at the community level.

In his address, Rev. Osabutey urged participants to maintain peace before, during, and after elections, emphasising the need to “agree to disagree agreeably.” The training featured sessions on violent extremism, vigilantism, and election-related conflicts, equipping participants with knowledge and practical tools to resist manipulation and promote dialogue. NCCE reaffirmed its commitment to empowering youth and community leaders to safeguard Ghana’s democratic processes through tolerance, lawful participation, and civic responsibility.
