NCCE Mamprugu Moagduri Engages Stakeholders on Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption

The Mamprugu Moagduri District Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education has organised a civic engagement on the rule of law, accountability, and the fight against corruption. The programme was held at the Assemblies of God Church in Yagaba.

The engagement was organised with support from Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the European Union. It brought together stakeholders, including officials from CHRAJ, Social Welfare, Environmental Health, the District Assembly, and community leaders.

Participants were sensitised on social auditing and the importance of transparency and accountability in community development and public service delivery. Addressing the gathering, the District Human Resource Officer encouraged citizens to monitor the activities of public institutions to help curb corruption and promote responsible governance. He stressed that public officials must remain transparent and accountable in the discharge of their duties.

The District Director of NCCE, Salifu Ibrahim, urged participants not to remain silent on corrupt practices but to actively support good governance and inclusive decision-making within their communities. He encouraged citizens to take an interest in decisions that affect their welfare and to work with relevant institutions to promote accountability at the local level.

Also speaking, the District Director of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice, Yakubu Mariam, encouraged participants to report corruption-related cases to the appropriate authorities without fear. She assured them that whistleblowers would be protected and emphasised the collective responsibility of citizens, public officials, and institutions to safeguard public resources for national development.

The programme formed part of efforts to promote civic responsibility, accountability, transparency, and active citizen participation at the community level. It also reinforced the need for citizens to play a watchdog role in ensuring that public resources are used for the benefit of all.
