The Lower Manya Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education has organised a public education programme for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) at Agormanya as part of activities marking the 2026 Constitution Week Celebration.
The engagement, held on 7th May 2026 at the New Testament Baptist Church, brought together 197 participants and focused on the theme, “Upholding Our Constitution in the Digital Age: Our Collective Responsibility.”
Speaking at the programme, Assistant Civic Education Officer Mrs. Gifty Narh underscored the importance of responsible use of digital platforms in promoting national cohesion and democratic stability. While highlighting the benefits of technology in education, communication, business, and governance, she cautioned against misinformation, cyberbullying, internet fraud, and hate speech.
Mrs. Narh reminded participants that the right to freedom of expression, as guaranteed under the 1992 Constitution, must be exercised responsibly and in accordance with the law. She also educated participants on the provisions of the Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038) and the Electronic Transactions Act, 2008 (Act 772) as key legal frameworks governing conduct in the digital space.
On her part, Ms. Doris Korlekie Sackitey educated participants on the civic duty of paying taxes and its contribution to national development. She encouraged business owners to obtain Tax Identification Numbers (TINs) and comply with tax obligations to support the provision of essential public services.
The programme concluded with an interactive session during which participants asked questions and shared their views on responsible digital citizenship and civic responsibilities.
