NCCE Keta Marks Citizenship Week with Dzelukope E.P Basic School

As part of the 2026 Citizenship Week Celebration, the Keta Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education engaged learners of Dzelukope E.P Basic School on responsible digital citizenship and respect for Ghana’s constitutional values.

The engagement took place on Monday, 25th May 2026, and focused on the theme, “Our Collective Responsibility,” with the sub-theme, “Growing Up Digital: The Ghanaian Child Upholding the Constitution Online.” It sought to help young learners understand their role in using digital platforms responsibly while respecting the laws, values, and principles of Ghana.

Leading the session were Madam Nora Aku Amevor, Civic Education Officer, and Mr. Lucas Tudi, Assistant Civic Education Officer. They interacted warmly with the pupils and encouraged them to use technology positively, safely, and responsibly.

During the interaction, learners were educated on their rights and responsibilities as young citizens. They were encouraged to speak respectfully online, protect their personal information, avoid harmful digital behaviour, and use social media and other digital platforms to promote unity, discipline, and respect for others.

Madam Amevor and Mr. Tudi explained that the digital age has created many opportunities for learning, communication, and creativity, but also comes with responsibilities. They reminded the children that every Ghanaian child has a role to play in protecting the Constitution, promoting good behaviour online, and contributing to national development.

Pupils were further urged to demonstrate discipline both in school and on digital platforms. The officers noted that responsible conduct, respect for others, and obedience to rules are important values that children must practise as they grow into active citizens.

An interactive session brought the visit to a close, with learners asking questions and sharing their views on responsible online behaviour. School authorities also commended the NCCE for making the Citizenship Week celebration educational and inspiring for the pupils.
