Prayer, reflection and a renewed call for national responsibility took centre stage when the Asunafo North Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), in collaboration with the Asunafo North Municipal Assembly (ANMA), joined the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving celebration at the Victory Centre Assemblies of God Church in Goaso.
Held under the theme “Resetting Our Values to Build the Ghana We Want,” the programme brought together about 300 participants, including religious leaders, traditional authorities, public officials and members of the general public, to seek God’s guidance and pray for peace, unity and national development.
Goodwill messages and reflections were delivered by the Municipal Chief Executive for Asunafo North Municipal Assembly, Hon. Joseph Akparibo; Rev. Kwaku Atuahene of the Roman Catholic Church; Rev. Oduro of the Presbyterian Church; and Alhaji Abdulai Yusif, the Regional Chief Imam. Their messages focused on moral renewal, peaceful coexistence, national unity, and the need for citizens to take active responsibility in building a prosperous Ghana.
Speakers urged participants to uphold the values enshrined in the 1992 Constitution by respecting the Constitution and the laws of Ghana, protecting public property, safeguarding the natural environment and promoting peace, tolerance and national cohesion. They also encouraged citizens to demonstrate honesty, integrity, and discipline in their workplaces, homes, and communities.
Attention was further drawn to the importance of active citizenship in community development and democratic governance. Participants were reminded that national transformation does not depend on government alone but begins with the choices, conduct, and commitment of every citizen.
Religious and community leaders emphasized that resetting Ghana’s values requires a collective effort from individuals, families, religious institutions, traditional authorities, government and civil society. They called on Ghanaians to embrace patriotism, accountability, selflessness, and respect for one another as essential values for national progress.
Special prayers were offered for the President, government, security services, traditional leaders and the continued peace, stability and development of Ghana.
By the close of the programme, participants reaffirmed their commitment to promoting moral values, civic responsibility, and unity in support of building the Ghana citizens desire.
