A team from The Kumasi Metro office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE ) has visited the Ashanti Regional Queen Mothers' Association at KO Methodist Conference Hall to discuss measures to combat COVID-19.
The team led by the Kumasi Metro Director of NCCE ,Ms. Margaret Konama called on the Queen mothers to continue adhering to the COVID- 19 safety protocols to help contain the spread of the virus.
Addressing the Kumasi Queen mothers, Ms. Konoma spoke about stigmatisation which has prevented many from reporting to health facilities when they experience any of the COVID-19 symptoms.
She also urged them to be mindful of the pandemic at social gatherings such as community meetings , marriage/naming ceremonies and burials.
The President of the Ashanti Regional Queen Mothers' Association, Nana Nyarko- Frimpomaa ( Bonwirehemaa) said as a stakeholder in her jurisdiction, she would send the message down to her respective communities. She expressed appreciation and thanks to the NCCE for their efforts to educate citizens on the pandemic.
