Kassena Nankana NCCE Encourages Students to Safeguard Democracy in the Digital Era

The Kassena Nankana Municipal Office of the NCCE has extended its 2026 Citizenship Week Celebration undertakings to Our Ladies of Lourdes (O.L.L) Girls Model Junior High School in Navrongo, urging the students to uphold Ghana’s constitutional values both offline and online.

The engagement highlighted the importance of vigilance among young people in the digital space, emphasising that it is crucial in 21st-century citizenship. The NCCE official also noted that the 1992 Constitution guarantees freedoms such as expression, association, among others; however, they must be exercised responsibly to avoid harm.

The session further pointed out the dangers of cyberbullying, misinformation, and hate speech, reminding students that their online actions can either strengthen or weaken Ghana’s democratic fabric.

They were also introduced to the Cybersecurity Act (2020), which provides legal safeguards against harmful digital practices.

The girls were encouraged to be role models of responsible digital conduct, promoting truth, safety, and respect in their online interactions. They were urged to protect their surroundings as part of their constitutional duties.

This engagement reflects NCCE’s broader mission to nurture a generation of responsible citizens who understand that democracy thrives when values of respect, discipline, and accountability are upheld in every sphere of life, including cyberspace.
