​HON. ALEXANDER AFENYO-MARKIN DONATES TO NCCE

The Member of Parliament for the Effutu Constituency, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin has donated copies of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana to the National Commission of Civic Education, Winneba office. The copies are to support Civic Education activities, especially at the basic school level.

The NCCE in Winneba led by its outgoing Municipal Director, Joseph Abban formally made a request to the MP for Effutu to support the Commission with copies of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana for in-school Civic Education programmes.

Presenting copies of the Constitution on behalf of Hon. Afenyo-Markin, the Municipal Chief Executive, Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, said, teaching young citizens about some of the dictates of the 1992 Constitution will empower them to appreciate their rights and responsibilities as citizens.

Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim said the Effutu Member of Parliament who doubles as the Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament recognizes the need for students to know the laws of Ghana for them to actively participate in nation-building efforts and understand how institutions operate in our democracy.

He praised the outgoing NCCE Municipal Director, Joseph Abban, and described him as hard-working and selfless. He wished him well in his future endeavours especially as he moved to the Cape Coast to serve as the Metropolitan Director of the National Commission for Civic Education.

The Central Regional Director of the National Commission for Civic Education, Mr. Robert Ekow Ewur received the items on behalf of the Commission. He expressed gratitude to the MP for the support and gave the assurance that the copies of the 1992 Constitution will be distributed to the Basic Schools in the Municipality.
