Cybercrime Hurts Ghana's Future - Nandom NCCE

The Nandom Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has called on the youth of Ghana to desist from all forms of cybercrime to secure a better future.

Officials made this advocacy during a public education session at St. Andrews Junior High School, where they sensitised students on the dangers of internet fraud, hacking, and other cyber-related offences.

They explained that while the internet provides enormous opportunities for learning, research and innovation, its misuse for fraudulent activities, popularly known as "sakawa" or "yahoo yahoo," could destroy the future of young people and tarnish the image of the country.

The officials thus cautioned the students about online scams, identity theft, spreading false information, and sharing explicit content, noting that indulging in these activities is considered an offence under the Cybersecurity Act.

The students were also encouraged to use the internet positively for their studies and skill development, and to be law-abiding citizens.
