Information from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service (GPS) reveals that, the number of commuters killed in road traffic crashes has increased from 1,827 between January and September 2020 to 2,126 in the first nine months of the year 2021. This reflects an increment of 16.37% compared to the same period last year. Against this background, the National Commission for Civic Education, NCCE, has implored road users to be vigilant and adhere to road safety signs.
Engaging indigenes of the Fanteakwa South District on issues of road safety and security as part of the Commission’s public education activities on security issues, the Fanteakwa District office of the NCCE, has sensitized congregants of the Church of Pentecost in the Fanteakwa South District on the need to observe road safety rules and regulations to avoid accidents.
Senior Field Officer, Richard Annor entreated the congregants to be vigilant on the road, observe road signs and not to drive when tired. He reiterated that as drivers and road users, it is very important to follow speed limits, undertake regular vehicle maintenance, adhere to road signals and avoid the fidgeting with phones when driving.
