'Give off your Best’-NCCE to New Recruits

The Chairman of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Ms. Josephine Nkrumah has charged newly recruited staff of the Commission to give off their best in promoting the Commission’s work in the country. “You have the choice to be ethical and relevant change makers. As a civic educator, you must be willing to improve yourselves by learning in order to give off your best”, Ms. Nkrumah emphasised. She made these remarks in Tamale when opened a series of workshops for newly recruited NCCE staff.

The training workshops which have been scheduled for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Zones and supported by the European Union are geared towards boosting the capacity of the new staff of the Commission to sustain the civic education drive in the country.

Ms. Nkrumah further entreated the trainees to pay attention and stay engaged to learn the rudiments of civic education. She challenged them to be diligent, disciplined, committed, and resilient in the discharge of their work.

Ms. Nkrumah who explained the relevance of the Constitution to the work of the NCCE urged the trainees to “make Ghana’s 1992 Constitution a reading document, reading it daily” to effectively discharge civic education to Ghanaians.

While charging them not to be deterred by the challenges of the Commission, she tasked them to collaborate with Civil Society Organisations and other stakeholders in the discharge of their duties. “Leverage on your network to enhance civic education”, she said. She also urged them to look out for opportunities to do effective civic education.

The Chairman again advised the new staff to be ethical and work with integrity in order to make the Commission proud.

Dr. Mohammed Imurana, a Deputy Director of Programmes shared his personal experience since working with the Commission. According to him, NCCE has offered him opportunities to pursue further education.
