The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), with support from the European Union, is organising the 8th National Accountability, Rule of Law, and Anti-Corruption Programme (ARAP) Dialogue on Tuesday, 15th September 2020, at the Alisa Hotel, North Ridge, to further strengthen and sustain democratic institutions.
The Dialogue which focuses on “Strengthening our Democratic Institutions,” explores efforts of sustaining the impact of ARAP after its completion.
Panelists billed for the Dialogue include, Prof. Raymond Atuguba, Associate Professor and Dean, University of Ghana School of Law; Dr. Esther Ofei-Aboagye, Chairperson, STAR-Ghana Foundation, Hon. Henry Kwabena Kokofu, Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency with Samson Lardy Anyenini, Lawyer and Host of NewsFile, as the Moderator.
To sustain the gains made over the years with respect to ARAP, the 8th National Dialogue would touch on the essential Constitutional provisions for key state institutions responsible for deepening accountability, rule of law, anti-corruption, and environmental governance.
The programme also seeks to look at the mechanisms for the provision of adequate, reliable, and secure funding of Independent Governance Institutions involved in Accountability, Rule of Law, Anti-Corruption, and Environmental Governance including the National Commission for Civic Education, Commission for Human Rights, and Administrative Justice, Environmental Protection Agency, Legal Aid Commission, Economic and Organised Crime Office, Judicial Service, the Ghana Police Service among others.
The Dialogue is being implemented in close collaboration with ARAP implementing partners including the International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP), and the ARAP Coordinating Unit.
